ABOUT THE
OUR MISSION STATEMENT
To reduce gang violence and membership through a multi-sectoral approach focused on education, prevention, intervention, and suppression initiatives in partnership with impacted stakeholders.
OUR HISTORY
In December of the year 2016, Deputy Chief James Ramer of the Toronto Police Service posed the question, "How do we get a gang member out of a gang?" in efforts to evolve policing models of gang enforcement to include a conversation around discontinuing the cycle of gang membership and violence.

Since that time, our team has been exploring evidence-based strategies, publicly advocating for the importance of mitigating the risk factors associated with youth gang involvement with protective factors, and executing pilot projects in efforts to conduct a true needs assessment of the most impacted communities.

As a result of almost four years of groundbreaking work in the world of gang prevention, the Integrated Gang Prevention Task Force is continuing to move forward championing community mobilization, opportunities provisions, social interventions, suppression, and organizational change and development in efforts to make Toronto the best and safest place to be.
